Ssstein

ssstein was founded in Japan in 2016 from the vision of self-taught designer Kiichiro Asakawa, who developed his language through the selection and reconstruction of vintage garments. Initially known as stein and renamed ssstein in 2024, the project explores balance between quietness and strength, minimalism and complexity, tradition and experimentation. Tailoring, outerwear, denim and knitwear are built through precise pattern cutting, carefully developed fabrics and techniques sourced from Japan and other specialist districts. Asakawa favours fluid proportions and deliberately understated beauty, transforming wardrobe essentials into pieces with sophisticated presence. ssstein interprets contemporary design through material, precision and sensitivity.
