Sacai was founded in Tokyo in 1999 from the vision of Chitose Abe, who continues to lead the brand creatively today. Her language is based on hybridization: materials, constructions and garments from different worlds are combined to create new forms and functions. Knitwear and lightweight fabrics, tailoring and sportswear, classic elements and technical details coexist within the same garment through panelling, layering and unexpected transformations. Abe often begins with everyday archetypes and alters their structure and proportions while maintaining a balance between experimentation and wearability. Sacai interprets fashion as a process of combination and reinvention, building an innovative yet concrete wardrobe capable of spanning occasions and seasons without losing identity.
