Matiere Premiere

Founded by perfumer Aurélien Guichard, MATIERE PREMIERE was created with the aim of placing raw materials at the heart of olfactory creation. Coming from a family of Grasse perfumers spanning seven generations, Guichard builds each fragrance around one central natural ingredient, used in high concentration to reveal its character, texture and intensity. Centifolia rose, tuberose and lavandin are cultivated directly on the founder’s own land in the Grasse region, creating a close connection between fragrance and terroir. Clear, linear formulations allow each material to express itself with immediacy and leave a distinctive, lasting trail. MATIERE PREMIERE approaches perfumery through authenticity, precision and a deep understanding of natural ingredients, creating bold yet essential fragrances rooted in French savoir-faire and the raw beauty of the material itself.
