Vans
Vans was founded in Anaheim, California, in 1966, when Paul and Jim Van Doren, together with Gordon Lee and Serge Delia, opened the Van Doren Rubber Company. The first shoes were manufactured and sold directly from the same premises, including the Style 44, now known as the Authentic. In the early 1970s, their robust construction and exceptional grip won over Southern California’s skate scene. The Era, Old Skool, Sk8-Hi and Slip-On followed, becoming part of contemporary culture alongside the Sidestripe and Checkerboard pattern. Vans continues to connect skateboarding, music, art and creativity, preserving an “Off The Wall” philosophy rooted in individuality, functionality and freedom of expression.
