The North Face
The North Face was founded in San Francisco in 1966 as a specialist mountaineering equipment store, gradually developing an identity rooted in exploration, innovation and protection from the elements. Outerwear, fleece, down jackets, footwear and technical equipment are designed for mountaineering, hiking, trail activities and outdoor pursuits, using performance materials and continuous research into insulation, waterproofing and lightweight construction. Over time, styles originally created for extreme conditions have also become part of urban culture, while retaining their functional origins. The North Face approaches clothing as a tool for movement across different environments, combining performance, durability and an instantly recognisable design language.
