René Caovilla
Founded in Fiesso d’Artico in 1923, René Caovilla grew from the shoemaking tradition of the Venetian district and the artisanal expertise of Edoardo Caovilla. His son, René Fernando Caovilla, expanded this heritage through a couture sensibility, transforming footwear through elaborate decoration, refined construction and a strong connection to Venetian culture. Crystals, rhinestones, embroidery and intricate craftsmanship draw inspiration from the mosaics of San Marco, Burano lace and the decorative arts of Venice. In 1968, the iconic Cleo sandal was introduced, inspired by a Roman snake bracelet and defined by its distinctive spiral strap wrapping around the ankle. René Caovilla continues to combine Made in Italy craftsmanship, decorative richness and precise construction in footwear conceived as expressive objects with an unmistakable identity.
