Bao Bao Issey Miyake

Launched as an independent brand with the Fall/Winter 2010 collection, BAO BAO ISSEY MIYAKE grew from a design research project that transforms simple triangular elements into bags capable of changing shape. Geometric modules applied to a flexible base allow the surface to move from flat to three-dimensional, naturally adapting to its contents. The creative team continually explores new combinations, materials, colours and constructions, questioning the traditional idea of the bag through an approach close to industrial design. Functionality and experimentation coexist in lightweight, versatile and instantly recognizable objects designed to be used and transformed in everyday life. BAO BAO ISSEY MIYAKE interprets the accessory as a dynamic structure, where geometry, technology and movement continuously generate new forms.
