MSGM: INTERVIEW WITH MASSIMO GIORGETTI

JULIAN FASHION: Your reputation has been acquired thanks to one of your iconic items: the sweater. How did you achieve success by pointing (almost) everything on sportswear?

MSGM: Sportswear is essential for MSGM but it is not everything. Since the first collections I wanted to mix sportswear, couture and pret-a-porter with strong call to street style’ trends getting a "Contemporary" style. I think I was one of the first in Italy to really believe in it. The sweatshirt has ever been a very important product for us, but I do not consider it our only iconic item.

JULIAN FASHION: Hue/Saturation: where did you get your inspiration for this Spring /Summer 2018 collection from?

MASSIMO GIORGETTI: I have been inspired by chromotherapy. Colors can have a powerful effect on our brain, are dynamic and they express a feeling, a mood, an idea. Colors are always part of MSGM’ dna. For this SS collection I wanted to spread our motto "Colors speak all languages", imprinting it on white tags on tyvek trenches, tweed jackets and silk blouses.

JULIAN FASHION: Toilet Paper, Moon Boot, Diadora .. Are you planning other collaborations for the future?

MASSIMO GIORGETTI:Yes of course, stay tuned... !

JULIAN FASHION: Romagna and fashion, a combination we know both. What would you like to see in the future of Italian fashion?

MASSIMO GIORGETTI: We are living a transition period, where the desire of uniqueness is mixed with the social identity. Italy has a strong preference for aesthetics and I would like that “Made in Italy” be up to what it means abroad. We must stop feeling lesser than other countries that produce fashion as we do. Italy can not be compared with other countries, we all need to roll up our sleeves and find again the pride of being Italians. This is valid fo all the sectors, not only in fashion.
