Birkenstock 1774

The roots of BIRKENSTOCK date back to 1774, when Johann Adam Birkenstock was registered as a shoemaker in Germany. At the end of the nineteenth century, Konrad Birkenstock developed the first flexible insoles, beginning the anatomical research that would come to define the brand. The celebrated footbed, engineered to support the natural shape of the foot, remains the starting point of every design. Sandals such as the Madrid, Arizona and Boston combine functionality, comfort and an essential design language that has become iconic over time. Production retains a strong connection to Germany and to materials including cork, latex, leather and suede. BIRKENSTOCK approaches footwear through a clear philosophy: creating durable, comfortable products where wellbeing, construction quality and aesthetic simplicity exist independently of trends.
