Barena

Founded in Venice in 1993 by Sandro Zara, Barena Venezia was inspired by life in the lagoon and by the traditional clothing worn by those who worked there. The first collection was developed with Massimo Pigozzo, while Francesca Zara joined the family company in 2008 as Creative Director and Head Designer. Fabric remains the starting point: materials chosen for texture, movement and authenticity guide the construction of unstructured jackets, trousers, knitwear and pieces with a relaxed sense of elegance. The archive, which includes designs dating back to the early twentieth century, continues to inform the creative process. Barena interprets Venetian tradition through a contemporary, informal and sophisticated wardrobe where comfort, material quality and tailoring culture coexist naturally.
