In 1985, master dressmaker Hervé Léger Peugnet founded his eponymous fashion house with guidance from his contemporary Karl Lagerfeld. Léger embraced the use of traditional, highly technical draping techniques on innovative new materials to place a woman’s figure in its best possible light. The pioneering bandage dress combined heat-sensitive, knitted panels with couture-quality detailing for a silhouette that molded to the wearer. The powerful, feminine style became an instant icon, and continues to grace red carpets and magazine covers around the globe.
